Trip to Texas Part 2

Around 4:00 on Friday afternoon, my brother had his winging ceremony. It was a typical ceremony with a speaker, some awards, cake and family pictures. Each pilot that has a spouse presented their spouse with a spouse's award. Basically it is an award for putting up with them as they go through the program and helping them out. The Airforce pilots also breaks their first set of wings. These are wings that the pilot buys ahead of time and "prepares" them so they are easier to break at the ceremony. They break the wings and then keep a half for themselves and give a half away. The two halves never meet again until the pilot dies and then he is buried with his first set of wings. And of course after it was over it was picture time!

It's "nana" time for my niece! Spouse's Award

Pinning of the wings and a photo of my brother's family.

Breaking of the wings.

Family photos!
